Magnesium Piston

Light-weight magnesium piston delivering excellent power-to-weight-ratio, high maximum speed and high durability.
Combined Lever

Because STIHL M-Tronic has electronic cold and warm start recognition, only one start position is needed on the combi lever. The exact amount of fuel is supplied on demand and you can apply full throttle straight away - even with a cold start.

Anti-vibration System

Vibrations from power tools can lead to negative effects on blood vessels. STIHL has developed a system for minimizing the levels. This also helps reduce operator fatigue and provides a more comfortable working experience.

Ematic Chain Lubrication System

A reservoir holds bar oil until it is picked up by the passing chain. This achieves maximum lubrication resulting in longer wear and less oil consumption.
Compensator

The ratio of the fuel-air mixture is controlled as the quantity of fuel is delivered to the carburettor according to the quantity of air passing through the air filter. This keeps the fuel/air ratio in the combustion mixture constant and as a result the engine power also remains constant.

Tool Free Filler Caps

Special caps on the fuel and oil tanks allow for easy opening and locking without the need for tools.
Reduced Air Filter Maintenance

A pre-separation filter system is used to clean the air before it reaches the main air filter. The benefit is that maintenance of the machine is reduced.

STIHL M-Tronic™ System

The STIHL M-Tronic™ system electronically manages the air/fuel and ignition requirements of the saw. Ensuring optimal performance in all operating conditions. This technology also provides a simplified starting procedure.
HD2 Filter

This air filter keeps even the finest dust away from the engine, which increases the service life of the engine. The HD2 filter element is made from a robust long life material that can be washed repeatedly. For best results we recommend the use of STIHL Varioclean and warm water.

Side Chain Tensioner

There is a tensioning screw on the side of the Chainsaw through the sprocket cover. This is easy to use and removes the need for contact with the sharp saw chain.
STIHL ElastoStart

A spring or rubber element in the starter handle is used to balance out the peck compression resistance when pulling the starter cord. This reduces the perceived starting effort by up to 30%.

Advanced Combustion Technology

Four overflow channels swirl the fuel-air mix before ignition, allowing for optimum combustion and highly efficient performance. The result is lower fuel consumption and high torque across a broad rpm range.
Captive Nuts

When changing the cutting attachment, you will not risk losing the nuts on the sprocket.

Carburettor Heating

By changing the Chainsaw from summer to winter operation, the intake air is pre-heated over the engine fins. This ensures that the carburettor does not ice up and you can continue working in freezing temperatures.
